What's In The Bag?

The items inside BwB Co-owner's dog walking bag, and why they're in there!

Some of these things are in everyone's dog walking supplies, but some you may not have thought to bring. Everything in here has its purpose, either for the dogs or the humans, so let's jump right in to see what's in Akira's dog walking bag!

The Basics:

  • Poop bags: a must for walks. You don't want to be the one inconsiderate neighbor that leaves pet waste around!

  • Clicker and Treats: to reinforce good behavior. Some of our client pups have ongoing training goals that we help work on, and that's where these come in.

  • Collapsible Bowl: extra important now that the weather is warming up, and the collapsing feature makes this super easy to transport. Pup looking thirsty or hot? Just push the bowl open, pour in some water from a fountain or your bottle, and push it shut once Fido is done drinking.

  • Slip Lead and Carabiner: in case a leash or collar happens to break, the slip lead is great to have on hand, and it's useful in the event that another dog gets loose. The carabiner can be used for a bit of additional security, or just to hold something on a belt loop.

The Extras:

  • Business Cards: for some on-the-go advertising. We want to tell the world about BwB!

  • Tick Key: 'tis the season! This handy little tool is for removing ticks that have already embedded themselves. It makes it super easy to remove the tick without squeezing the body (super important!) or leaving mouthparts behind. We may see an increased number of ticks this year, due to a relatively mild winter plus warmer spring and summer forecasts, so we'd highly recommend carrying this whenever you'll be around taller grass or other vegetation.

  • Bug Repellent and Mosquito Head Net: the bugs are starting to come out, and they are ANNOYING! The head net may look a bit silly, but it does wonders for keeping the gnats off.

  • Alarm Whistle and Pepper Spray: we hope to never need to use these, but it's better to have them and not need them, than need them and not have them. The pepper spray can fend off a potential attacker, and the alarm whistle lets out a loud noise and flashing light to attract attention.

  • Gloves and Hand Sanitizer: we love both pets and the outdoors, but let's be honest, both can be kind of gross sometimes. These come in handy if there's a mess to clean up, or if someone (dog or human) has an injury that needs looking at.

  • Wet Wipes and Tissues: related to the gloves and hand sanitizer, sometimes things just need a quick clean-up. Runny nose from allergies, dog slobber, mud splatter, you name it.

  • Sunscreen Stick: UV protection is important for everyone! The stick form makes it way less messy to apply, so you can avoid sunburn and keep your skin healthy on the go.

  • Moisturizer and Lip Gloss: because who doesn't want to feel good, even when walking the dog?

This may seem like a lot, and it's true that some of these items aren't 100% necessary. However, things like the bug netting and water dish help make the walk a bit more comfortable for everyone, or are useful to carry on a "just in case" basis, like the slip lead and gloves. Plus – check out the size of the bag and how much stuff can fit in it. It sounds like a lot when it's written down, but packs into a conveniently small and light crossbody!

This all goes to show the quality of care you can expect from Barking With the Bradley's on even just a quick relief break, and the standard of preparedness that Akira sets for the rest of our team. Do you need dog care from someone that'll be this prepared? Click here for more information on our walking services to get the booking process started.

If you love to go above and beyond for pets, and are based out of Sterling, we're hiring – head to our website to apply!
